Age of information. Hardware ages much faster in ratings than any other product. If the product is long time forgotten in magazines and on download sites the rating goes down.
Type of OS. If a software is running under DOS only it can be considered almost obsolete except for boot purposes or security like rootkit revealing etc.
Reputation of the source of information. E.g. PC Magazine and PC World are rated higher than all other sources of information. My own very rare SoftBase ratings are rated very low in comparizon to all other ratings
